What’s For Lunch – Take II

By Estela - Weekly Bite, July 26, 2010 8:18 am

Hi :) How was your weekend? We spent most of the weekend indoors…

I got a couple of very sweaty runs in and managed to take a trip to my neighborhood farmer’s market :)

IMG_6651

I LOVE our neighborhood farmers market! It has such a comfortable homey feel :) Its almost like a little social hour… I always run into neighbors and friends I haven’t seen in a while… and M loves it :)

IMG_6659

They had incredible looking heirloom tomatoes… but I held out on buying any… I have my own stash at home to finish first :)

IMG_6663

Zucchini…..
IMG_6664

Eggplant… which I purchased two of :)
IMG_6665

Insanely ripe peaches… which I purchase five of :)
IMG_6666

Colorful plums and apricots….

Local Jam…

YUM!!!
IMG_6675

I have so many tomatoes from my garden that I’m eating close to three a day! My favorite way to eat them is sliced with a sprinkle of salt. Nothing tastes better then a fresh garden tomato!

I’m so glad you all enjoyed the little sneak peek of what I feed M for lunch. I’m going to try to include a few kiddie lunches a week.

Here’s one of her lunches from the weekend….

Pizza Quesadilla, Fresh Steamed Corn, and a local Organic Peach….
IMG_6686

For the pizza quesadilla I took one whole wheat tortilla, heated it up a little on the stove, added some marinara sauce and mozzarella, fold in half, then continue to heat until lightly toasted and cheese is melted inside.

Fresh steamed corn directly off the cob….

And finally an organic peach :)

She obviously hated it ;) ;)

Last night I was reading Lynn’s blog and she had such a fun question that I wanted to pass it on to you…

What’s the BEST “Worst Movie” you love to watch?

I know I’m aging myself by admitting this… but I LOVE the movie “Satisfaction” with Justine Bateman and Julia Roberts. Its such a bad movie…. but I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! My husband truly doesn’t understand why I watch it. I know its a bad movie… but I love it :)

What about you?

What the best “worst movie” you love to watch?

Have a great Monday :) I’m off to Hot Yoga :)

What’s for Lunch?

By Estela - Weekly Bite, July 23, 2010 12:40 pm

Hooray for Friday :) :) :)

Sorry for the late post… Its been one busy morning!

  • Made breakfast for M and the hubby
  • Played airport taxi for a few friends
  • Went to a great Bikram Yoga class :) :)
  • Got two loads of laundry done
  • Went outside to water the garden… and came back inside with these!!!

IMG_6629

I couldn’t believe it!! I swear two days ago there was barely anything out there. Looks like I have some cooking and freezing to do :)

Moving on to lunch!

I’ve gotten many emails asking what I feed M. After getting so many emails I decided to show you all a little of what she eats.

Here’s what Little Miss M had for lunch today….

Sunflower Seed Butter Pinwheels… (half a whole-wheat lavash wrap spread with a thin layer of sunflower seed butter)
IMG_6590

Cucumber slices spritzed with lemon… (M’s not a fan of the cucumber peel so I take it off)
IMG_6594

And finally…

Strawberries and Blueberries….
IMG_6596

All served on a little 5×6 plate :)
IMG_6582

She went straight for the berries and slowly worked through everything else…

Have a wonderful weekend!

See ya’ll Monday :)

Mango + Banana Pops

By Estela - Weekly Bite, July 22, 2010 8:43 am

Hi :)

I want to start this post off by saying “I know”… about all the crazy typos in my post yesterday :(

Sorry about that. I wish I had some cool excuse like “I’m on medication” or something like that… but no… it was just me, typing at lightening speed then hitting “publish.” It wasn’t until my husband read my post last night and said “What were you on when you wrote that post, there’s typos everywhere!” Whoops….

My mental note for today… “Must proof read, grammar check, and spell check all posts.”

Okay… moving on….

Its been a whopping four days since I’ve posted a picture of M… I think that’s a record! I snapped these pics yesterday of her trying to put on her daddy’s shoe. So cute :)

Since the SPINACH pops didn’t work out so well… I decided to make some MANGO + BANANA POPS :)
IMG_6531

The ingredients were simple….

MANGO + BANANA
IMG_6538

That’s what I love the most about making my own popsicles. The ingredients are simple and pure. None of that yucky stuff is added ;)

Ready for the freezer!
IMG_6547

There’s no doubt in my mind that these will taste delicious! I rapidly slurped down the leftovers! :)

Thank you so much for all the compliments on my birdcage and my decorating style :) Its still a work in progress :)

I did get an email asking me what my favorite scented candle is. That’s a tough one because there are so many that smell good!

If I have to choose one, it would be my beloved MILK candle by K. Hall Designs. I LOVE the way this candle smells! The smell is Vanilla, Coconut, and Milk, and is made of 100% pure vegetable wax. I want to buy there bath salts! Those smell heavenly!

I have a busy day ahead! I’m hoping to have to down time in the afternoon :)

Do you like scented candles? What’s your favorite kind?
