Just like a puppy…

By Estela - Weekly Bite, July 9, 2010 7:57 am

Thanks for all the suggestions for my surplus of jalapenos! I think I’m going to freeze some and try to pickle the rest.

So, yesterday I was checking my emails and M was doing her normal laps around the house. You see, we have a bathroom with “Jack & Jill” doors, so she just cruises through the bathroom and makes a complete circle.

I noticed there was silence, and M didn’t come through the living room to complete her 13th lap. I quietly walked to the bathroom, and this is what I saw….

At first I wanted to put her in “time out”, but she looked so stinkin’ cute I had to grab my camera….

Sometimes I think babies are just like puppies…. when things get quiet and you don’t see them for a while… you know they are getting into trouble ;)

Yesterday, Tim was getting home from a business trip. We have a little routine/tradition we do every time he comes home. The first thing involves making his favorite brownies. My husband LOVES his brownies… but he’s picky. I’ve tried over and over again to make fancy from scratch brownies… but he wants nothing of them. His favorite is good old Duncan Hines…

The brown stuff you see is coffee. Instead of using the water that the recipe calls for, I use coffee. It really brings out the chocolate flavor :)

And I always have to add extra chocolate chips for him…

And I always lick the bowl :)

Second part of our coming home routine…. Pizza! Tim loves pizza. We always order the same thing every time. Half cheese (for me) and half pepperoni & black olives for him.

IMG_6030

I always eat the same thing… one slice of cheese, and half a slice of his pepperoni :)

And finally… my tradition. Daddy gets home and mommy opens up a box of wine…

Classy, I know…. But don’t hate on the box of Target wine until you’ve tried it. Its mighty tasty :)

I’m telling ya’ its heaven in a glass ;)

  1. I love boxed wine. :) Unfortunately we can’t get it at Target or anywhere but a liquor store here…

M is so cute. I know, I sound like a broken record. But how adorable!

  2. I laughed with I read this because my husband is the exact same with brownies. He loves the box. I keep trying to find a recipe he likes from scratch, but nope he wants the box. I am going to bikram today. I’m hoping to fall in love with it. M is too cute!

Ww caught my little brother tearing up toilet paper when he was about 2. It was the cutest thing ever. We snapped some pictures, then had him help up cleaan it up :)

  4. Those TP pictures are freaking adorable!!!

  5. hurray for the run! you know, i always hear people joke about kids doing that, but i’ve never actually seen it done! just another reason why M is my favorite baby :)

  6. Oh my goodness, it’s like a Charmin commercial! She’s so cute though, how can you get mad?

Me and my husband order the same exact pizza, though is pepperoni and olive side also gets green peppers. And I also steal a bite.

  7. Oh my, she is so precious!!!

    I LOVE BROWNIES!!!!

  8. 2 happy hours today?? Oh boy, don’t work too hard ;)

  9. This post reminds me so much of myself!!

    (1) Things about puppies = totally true. You can’t leave them unattended or you just lost your fav pair of shoes.
    (2) Box brownies always taste better than from scratch, no matter what you do :) (I can’t wait to try the coffee trick!!)
    (3) Pizza makes the world go round.
    (4) TARGET BOXED WINE IS THE BEST.

Okay, sorry I’m done. Have a blast in PA!!

TOO cute! Lily does the same thing…so yep, just like a puppy :) She did that with the TP last night while I was showering, strangely enough!

Enjoy happy hours of all sorts – how fun! And Tim sounds like my hubby…pizza (pepperoni)! I don’t think our Target sells alcohol here because I’ve looked for their wine cubes (I think they’re DARLING!)!! Maybe in Ohio!

  11. Mo@MommyRD says:

As much as all babies are different, they are all the same. I’ve found Ava in the exact same position with the toilet paper. So funny!

I really like the Target boxed wine too. (at least the chardonnay and pinot grigio – haven’t tried the reds) So great, and love the convenience of the little pour spout.

  12. Pizza, brownies and wine sounds like an excellent “welcome home” to me!

Enjoy your trip this weekend :) .

  13. Aunt Cindy says:

Just “tip it”…for those of you who know what I mean. Estela, you have to see Grumpy Old Men if you haven’t. There’s a box of wine in it..cute scene.

Marin is so darling – can’t wait to meet her one day.
    Have fun in PA!!

  14. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get mad at a child if mine was that cute! Great idea for the brownies!

  15. Two thumbs up to Mommy and Neighborhood happy hours

  16. She is too cute! My husband is the same way with boxed brownies. Not so easy any more since he can’t have gluten. I love your tradition of pizza, brownies and wine…there is nothing better than box wine! Drink it with pride!

  17. Hey, if Kathy Griffin digs the box of wine, and now you, can’t be that bad! :) Cute pictures, and I really love the idea of using coffee instead of water in brownies!

  18. coffee in place of water…omg love!! that idea!

and the choc chips, I always do that too, just a little extra something-something :)

  19. sophia says:

Aww…you’re making me rethink my decision not to get married and have kids, because I’ll bet these little adorable moments are worth it!
And your idea to use coffee to bake brownies is GENIUS!

  20. Those pictures of M are amazing! I’m so glad you captured that moment and shared it with us.
