Dress Up Time?

By Estela - Weekly Bite, January 25, 2011 8:05 am

Check out this super sweet outfit….

Let’s go ahead and point out the highlights of this rockstar attire.

  • First off, she’s wearing her PJ’s, not even cute pj’s, old faded pj’s.
  • She’s wearing a pair of old socks that came in a pack of 6 at the dollar bin at Target.
  • And finally, the blazer.  When did this little girl learn how to put on a blazer buy herself?!

My cousin was kind enough to send us a box of clothes that his daughter has outgrown (I love hand-me-downs). I was in the kitchen cooking eggs and she walked out of our guest bedroom with this blazer on.

Of course I had to help her with the buttons. Tears were forming when she couldn’t figure it out herself.

Once that blazer was on, she was one happy kid.

This made me wonder… is this the beginning of the dress up phase?  The day before she was obsessed with her yellow polka dot raincoat.  She wore it from the moment she woke up, till pajama time.

If it is, that is OK by me.  That smile pretty much says it all…

Gettin’ Crafty

The home improvement kick continues!!  I blame it on all the decorating blogs I’ve been reading.

I’ve been reading waaaay to many decorating blogs.  I would list off my favorites to you, but the list is easily over 75 blogs and growing.

I have a mild obsession with chalkboards.  After reading so many blogs, it was nice to know I’m not alone.  I’ve had it in my head to make a wall calendar out of an old chalkboard for a while now, I just needed the perfect chalkboard.  I wanted the chalkboard to have an old look to it, so after searching the the internet for months, I finally found this chalkboard on Etsy.  Its an old farm window w/original hardware that was converted into a chalkboard.  I purchased it for only $25!!  This chalkboard is rather large standing at 33″ tall and 31″ wide.  With Mr. Weekly Bite’s help, we turned this into a calendar :)

First thing we did was tape the frame with painters tape, that way we could mark where the lines would go.

Next, we drew out on paper how big we wanted the rows and columns to be.  With a pen, we marked on the tape where each line would go.

I went to Michael’s and purchased these chalkboard paint markers.  They have a nice clean look when you write on a chalkboard with them, and they only wipe away with water.  This is what I wanted because the month & days of the week would be in regular chalk.

With a ruler, we carefully drew each row and column.  Once it dried, I wrote in each day of the week.  Then with regular chalk I wrote in the month and numbered the calendar.

Here’s the finished product!

I loved the way it turned out!  And its just the look I was going for :)

We even left room on the bottom for a ‘notes’ & ‘to do’ sections :)  All for a whopping $35!  This includes the cost of the chalkboard and the markers.

Look who decided to sneak into the picture….  I swear every time I pull the camera out she’s front and center.

The Chalkboard Calendar will be housed on the wall in our office area.  It’ll look so cute over our desk.  I’ll be sure to take some pics of it!

Enjoy the rest of your day :)

My ‘If I had a million dollars’ wish list

By Estela - Weekly Bite, January 13, 2011 8:02 am

The other day Mr. Weekly Bite and I were fantasizing.  Fantasizing that we had all the dinero in the world and could buy anything we wanted whenever we wanted.  So we asked the question: If you had a million dollars to buy to your hearts content what would you buy?  If we were gazillionaires, of course we would donate to our favorite charities… but this is our fantasy list.  Enjoy.

My pick:

1) Pistachio Green & Cream 1968 Vespa Scooter

Isn’t it so pretty! I’ve had a thing for Vespa scooters for many years now.  There’s something about them that I love.  Whenever Mr. Weekly Bite asks me what I want for a birthday for Christmas present I say this.  The thing is I don’t want just any vespa.  It has to be this one.

At least I can fantasize :)

Mr. Weekly Bite’s Pick:

2)  Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Mr. Weekly Bite has an unnatural obsession with this vehicle.  This was the car he drove his last two years in college.  He sold it after he graduated and has regretted it ever since.

My Pick:

3) Canon 5D Mark ii

This is way more camera then I will ever need or know what to do with.  But this is a fantasy list, right?  I’ve had the pleasure of shooting with this camera, and trust me, it is dreamy.  I highly doubt I will ever own this camera.  Right now I have my eyes on the 7D, which will probably happen in like 30 years.

Mr. Weekly Bite’s Pick:

4) Magnum PI’s Ferrari

I rolled my eyes when he pulled this image up on my computer.  But this is a fantasy list, so I guess he’s allowed ;)

My Pick:

5) Unlimited shopping spree every single day for the rest of my life to these two stores

I love everything J Crew makes.  Even the questionable stuff.  And Anthropologie, well, I could easily set up camp in that store if I needed to. Having a unlimited amount of spending every day for the rest of my life at these two stores would make me one happy lady :)

Mr. Weekly Bite’s Pick:

6) The Magnum PI Helicoptor

Again with the Magnum PI!  Apparently he’s obsessed with Magnum PI.

My final pick:

7) Madsen Cargo Bike

I’m beyond obsessed with this bike!  I love everything about it.  The look, the efficiency, the fact that it has a high cuteness factor… it does it all for me.

I can picture myself on a warm summer day with a cute sundress on, M buckled in the back as we make our way to the farmer’s market.  Remember – this IS a fantasy ;)

So there you have it.  That’s our fantasy wish list.  If you had a million dollars, what would be on your list?

Happy Day Dreaming :)
