Let the House Hunting Begin!
Hi 🙂 How was your weekend?
Mine was a roller coaster of emotions. As of my post on Friday, we were very close to canceling our trip to San Diego, but all is good now! We received an offer on our house!
Well…
We actually received the offer over a week ago. I was afraid to jinx it, so I kept the news to the myself until the home had it’s inspection and we were officially under contract.
After going back and forth with the buyers for five days, we finally settled!!
This was one of the most exhausting and emotionally draining processes I have ever been through. Between the first buyer’s getting cold feet, and the struggle we had with these buyer’s, all I can say is it’s most definitely a buyer’s market.
Bad if you’re selling a house, but good if you’re buying a house. Hopefully this buyer’s market will follow us to San Diego 🙂
This means our San Diego house hunting trip is back on! We leave tomorrow morning. We’re making a stop in NYC on Tuesday, then heading to San Diego the following day.
Mr. Weekly Bite & I lived in San Diego for 5 years before moving to DC, so we’re familiar with the area… but it has been five years. After doing tons of research, and with the help of friends, we’ve narrowed our search to 3 different neighborhoods.
Here’s what we’re focusing on:
- School districts
- Family oriented community
- 4 Bedrooms
- Not too far away from the beach
- Not too far from Mr. Weekly Bite’s work
If money were not an issue, we’d be buying a house in Del Mar. That’s our favorite beach spot. We just love it there! But… being that we’re not quazi-millionaires, we’re going to have to pass.
I’ll be blogging all about our house hunting adventures so stay tuned!
I’ve got lots of packing to do.
See you from San Diego 🙂
Yay! Can’t wait to get you in San Diego! Have a safe trip, good luck & let me know when you get out here!!
Congratulations on selling your house & good luck with the house hunting!
Thanks Lori!
Looking forward to seeing you 🙂
good luck!!
Congratulations!!! Good luck with the house search. That part sounds like more fun:-)
I love the image of the house in the clouds. Good luck!
Congrats on the contract Estela! Good luck on the search! I can’t wait to see what you get! I love your taste!
Congrats on selling your house! And best of luck on your search in SD. I’m insanely jealous. 🙂
Yay!!! Congratulations! What a process, no matter what side you are on! My friends are buying their first home, and after offers and inspections the seller suddenly gave it to someone else. They were pretty bummed!
YAY! What a relief! Have sold a house and purchased 2 within the past 2 years, I can relate to the stress! As if the actual move weren’t stressful enough!?
My #1 criteria is a bomb diggity kitchen. My next house MUST have one!
I can’t wait to read more. Will you be taking pics of the potential homes. (Read: Can I house hunt vicariously through you?) Good luck!
Also, congrats!!
Oh yes! Many pictures will be taken 🙂
Glad to see you sold your home. We offer beautiful homes that I believe match what you are looking for in San Diego. 4 Bedrooms, near the beach and great schools. Have a look at Torrey Ranch: http://www.drhorton.com/Where-We-Build/California/San-Diego/Division-LA-Corona/Torrey-Ranch.aspx
You can find me on Twitter @DRHorton for any and all questions about your search.
Yeah! I understand about the stress of selling in this market…we just did that a year ago and I REALLY hate the showing and waiting, showing and waiting..it is definitely nerve-racking. I do hope for you that it is a buyers market in SD!! How cool would that be on the “other side” of the equation!
Yay! Congratulations on selling the house! What a relief.
Good luck! By the way, I made your applesauce cake last week and I’m in love (my husband too). SO good. Making it again this week. 😉
