Cream Cheese & Pumpkin Butter Sandwich (Kiddie Style)
I don’t know what happened, but it seems like Fall weather finally arrived overnight! We woke Monday to cold and rainy weather in the DC area. Running was out of the question, it was too late to make a kidz club reservation at the gym, and for the first time in a long time I had no desire to go to yoga. Cue Insanity… No, I did not go insane, I’m talking about the workout Insanity.
I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the hardest DVD workout I’ve ever done. It was truly insane! Picture me in my living room jumping around doing drills, falling down to a push-up, falling short of breath, dripping with sweat, all while Little Miss M just sat their and laughed her little heart out. I’m pretty sure she thought I was putting on some type of show for her. I woke up this morning feeling sore in places I’ve never felt before.
Tim purchased the Insanity DVD set for himself. Its a 60 day program and you’re suppose to follow the program each day. I’m not big on following programs so I don’t see myself doing the 60 day plan… especially because I love running and yoga so much. What I will do is use the DVD’s as a cross training workout from time to time.
And now for one of the most awkward blog post transitions ever… lets move on to Lunch… 😉
Not my lunch… her lunch
On the menu was a Cream Cheese & Pumpkin Butter Sammie, leftover baked sweet potato fries, steamed broccoli, strawberries, and Pirates Booty.
I got the pumpkin butter from Trader Joe’s, but I really want to make my own. Anyone know a good recipe?
I always like to give M a little treat in her lunch. Today it was Pirates Booty. They’re easy for her to chew and she loves em’
I’ve gotten a few emails asking me if M eats everything I pack for her. The answer is no. I can tell you right now that from this lunch she’ll eat all the Pirates Booty, most of the sweet potatoes, about two pieces of broccoli, most of the strawberries, and 1/2 the sandwich.
I can personally verify that the cream cheese and pumpkin butter sandwich is delicious!

I have a busy day ahead… but first I need to stretch out my sore post Insanity body…
What was the hardest DVD workout you’ve ever done?
I might have some pumpkin butter and cream cheese on toast when I get home!
That sounds amazing! M is TOO cute…she’s getting so big!!
I’ve heard the Insanity DVD’s and the P90X are both intense. I think Jillian’s 30 Day Shred Level 3 is hard, but I hate lifting and rarely do it…so it is hard for me!
That sounds good. Sometimes I read your blog and wish you packed my lunches.
Oh, and I pack Pirates Booty as a treat for me, too. I’m starting to wonder if I’m really a toddler.
that sandwich does sound amazing! want to make my lunch for me? 🙂
I kind of want Insanity. I really like P90X, and like you, don’t do it as a program, but as a cross training workout for non-gym or running days.
ADORABLE!! You pack the best lunches. I she’s so lucky to have a mom who is raising her in such a healthy way, and introducing such amazing veggies and fruits so early. This is what all parents should do.
I can’t believe it, but I’ve never tried pumpkin butter. I need to. I know. I love all things pumpkin!
I also want to try that insanity workout. Sadly, I don’t think I’m in good enough shape for it yet. Maybe in a few months??
That does sound insane! Every now and then I do yoga on-demand.. I’ve mistakenly taken moderate-advanced yoga and been completely wiped out. It’s definitely not for whimps. Enjoy your day!
I love workout dvds!! I have P90X, some jillian dvds, and I just got Bob Harper’s new dvds, they are so tough!
At first Cathe was really hard, but I have gotten used to it. She has a boot camp that is intense. I am intrigued by the insanity workouts since I have heard a lot about them. I will have to check them out.
i’d even eat that meal:-) I’d also love a pumpkin butter recipe, although I am sure it is just a combination of pumpkin puree, spices and sugar to taste…
Yum! Great combo of pumpkin butter and cream cheese. I too have the Trader Joe’s stuff and it sure is tasty! 🙂
The fall weather sure did creep up fast here! Looking forward to (hopefully) warmer temps this w/e :).
I would love to try that Insanity workout. I need to look into that. I purchased that pumpkin butter as well and loved it. Mixed it with some cream cheese and yum! The sandwich is a great idea.
Ooo I have seen the Insanity videos and they look rough! I would love to try them! p90X is pretty rough too! The plyo workout always kicks my butt!
I would love M’s lunch! Hmmm, that sounds like a great brekfast toast combo too!
Whoa! What a wonderful and colorful lunch box!
I dunno if you’ve gotten to it yet, but Gina (miss fittnessista) posted a home total body work out recently which included ‘shoulder burners’ from that DVD (if I am remembering right) and they’re SOOOO much harder than they look at first… I watched the girl in the youtube video do it and was like, I can do this! It felt SO good after… maybe I should get the DVD’s so I can try it all out for myself.
tj’s pumpkin butter is like CRACK!!! gotta stock up…
Look at that cutie pie face! I love it!
Aaaaww, your daughter’s adorable!!!! That sandwich sounds great 😀 Oh-and Angela at “Oh She Glows” posted a pumpkin butter recipe this morning. Here’s the link: http://ohsheglows.com/2010/10/05/happy-thanksgiving-homemade-pumpkin-butter/
no kid eats everything in their lunch…haha! pirates booty, of course. broccoli, well, one can hope 🙂
Try to stick with the Insanity plan. I use to do a lot of running before P90X and Insanity. When I cut back on the running and did the plan I was able to run faster and just as far as before. Its because you work so much on your legs and the muscles you would normally not use.
Oh my gosh – that lunch looks amazing! I wish my 4 year old would eat that well!
I haven’t done Insanity yet – my husband and I have been doing Turbo Fire – which has kicked my rear like no other program I’ve done! Always dripping with sweat after each and every one!
