My Coffee Mug Situation…
I am a self-professed coffee mug hoarder.
I don’t even think my friends know this about me…
The picture below contains approximately 48 coffee mugs. You don’t want to know how many cute tea cup sets I have…
And that’s because I got rid of close to twenty coffee mugs before our house went on the market…
I am becoming crazy coffee mug lady… and it needs to stop!
Every time I see a cute coffee mug I buy it, for no other reason other than it’s cute. Mr. Weekly Bite caught onto this and started buying me a coffee mug whenever he’s away on business travels. I’ve got coffee mugs from Bangkok, India, England, Australia, El Salvador, Germany, and just about every state in the US.
My coffee mug situation has gotten out of hand. Mr. Weekly Bite has been given strict orders to stop buying me coffee mugs. He can buy me jewelry instead.
Since we’re moving across the country in 4 weeks, it makes absolutely no sense to continue with this odd obsession.
After much thought, I managed to wean down my collection by 25. I don’t have the heart to get rid of the coffee mugs Mr. Weekly Bite gave me, those are keepers.
It will take every ounce of restrain to resist buying a cute coffee mug…
this is gonna be a tough one…

Hahaha…I have WAY too many plates and little juice glasses. The juice glasses are particularly pointless– but I love them!!
I like Anna above have been a little crazy with glassware – especially little antique juice glasses and water goblets. But I had a lot of coffee mugs as well, but cleaned them out about a month ago. I love that your hubs gets a mug while traveling. I think that is a sweet tradition!!
oh my gosh that is a TON of coffee cups! i used to collect spoons as a kid…and now they’re all chillin’ in our garage under something random. oh well! it was fun back then 🙂

I definitely need some coffee mugs! lol I don’t have ANY! I used to have about 10 different mugs, but I left them with my old roommate when I moved to Austin so I don’t have them anymore :-(.
I collect nut butter. On a normal day, I have 4-5 varieties, sometimes in multiples.
That’s a lot of nut butter! I bet they’re all yummy 🙂
You are in good company– I have the exact same “mug habit”! I don’t have quite as many as you (25-20), but when I moved out my mom asked me to leave some mugs when she realized that I owned most of the ones in the cabinet!
I thought that was totally normal to have that many coffee mugs! We are the worst and we even have some for the kids’ hot chocolate that have comic book characters on them. The collection will continue…I refuse to think badly of it!
Collecting and hoarding is a sign of frugality and conservation…and preservation of history. Your collection will be or is a tribute to both you and Mr. WB…may not be appreciated just yet, but when the stories are coupled w/the image…well that’s another book/website for you to create…take an individual pic or 2 of each and tell the story behind and have Mr.WB add what he is allowed to add.
For me, I hoard tools and parts/hardware…therefore no parking in garage 😉
I confess that I’m a fellow mug collector. I probably have about 50-70. I collect them from vacations and from all the places I’ve lived. We move about every 2 years with my husband’s job and I had to give up many things I would love to keep (like books) but I will NOT give up my mugs. I love to pick a new one to have coffee from every few weeks.
My only issue is trying not to freak out when we have guests and they pull one of my mugs from the top shelf and use it. Yes, I know, I have issues …. :))
I’m seriously wracking my brain and can’t think of one, but my Mom collects mugs too. She’s probably got over a 100. So funny. When I was a kiddo, I used to collect key chains. My Dad had to travel a lot from work and he would always bring me one.
I used to collect wine glasses, but after a bunch of moves, and being clumsy..my collection has dwindled. I try to pick ones up when I am visiting somewhere new. Usually wineries. 🙂
I would love to have cute mugs! I always want to buy some when I see them but never do because I can’t make myself spend the $ for some reason. Although when it comes to cute workout clothes…that’s another story. I guess that’s my weakness/obsession.
The funniest part is that you have 2 Dunkin’ Donut mugs! 🙂

I also have a collection (but much smaller) of mugs!I think they are a good thing to collect because using them makes me think of the trip/etc when I got them!
I collect wine glasses. I love different shapes, stem lengths, etc. I have well over 100 wine glasss!
I’d hate to have you see my sad little coffee cup collection…seriously. You’d be so disappointed in me!
I collect…nothing. I am a total minimialst. This is a problem since my husband will not throw anything out!

oh my goodness that is a pretty good sized collection. But, collecting is fun as long as you know when its time to pair down and make breathing room for the next batch of fun.
