Bites of Life: A Favorite Corner Of Our Home…

house plant

There are many parts of our new house that I love, but this little corner in our dining room happens to be my favorite. In a way, I guess it kind of represents how much work we did before the moving truck arrived. We were fortunate enough to have the kids spend a week with their grandparents while we got the house ready for our furniture to arrive. We love the house and it didn’t need too much work, but it needed to be painted from top to bottom. To give you an idea, the entire house was painted yellow. Every wall, room, ceiling, kitchen, bathrooms, EVERYTHING. While I have nothing against yellow, there is such a thing called ‘overdose’. We had an overdose of yellow. So, aside from a few upgrades, my hubby and I painted the entire house. We had very early mornings and worked straight through dinner for seven days.

Normally I’m a color girl, but for some reason I wanted a clean white living space. So, we white washed the entire main living area and I LOVE IT!! Our rooms are so bright and all of our colorful paintings and decor stand out.

One thing I came to love in our former San Diego home was indoor plants. Through trial and a lot of error, I learned how to take care of them and how much life they can bring to a room. Once the house was painted and our furniture was in place I headed to the local garden nursery and purchase a few plants, two of which our Fiddle Leaf Fig Trees. I heart this plant big time. It’s big, beautiful, and adds color and life to our home.

So, even though we went from sunny 89 degree weather in San Diego to 8 inches of snow our first weekend here, I loved sitting at the dining table working and staring at my pretty corner.

I know I’ve slacked on the recipes, but more will be coming soon! As with any new home, comes a new oven, and as most cooks know, every oven is different. Some cook faster than others while some take ages to cook. I think I finally figured it out ๐Ÿ™‚

Stay tuned for more fun recipes and kiddie nutrition tips!

Have a great weekend!

Lovin’ that corner! I went with a neutral color for our house back in 2009 and now I’m wishing it were a clean white! It definitely makes that green plant pop! Love it.
