The Great Sushi Experiment

Over the weekend Mr. Weekly Bite & I got struck with food poisoning 🙁  This was so not fun.  Unfortunately I got the worst of it.

My grand plans of cooking, baking, creating new kiddie meals, & blogging went way out the window.  So today I decided to share M’s Sushi Experiment. Just when I think she’s becoming a picky eater, she surprises me with stuff like this.

It all started the day after the Tortilla Roll incident.  She wanted nothing to do with that meal creation, so I made her a PB&J.  I felt so defeated I decided to give her a PB&J for lunch again the next day.  We’d just returned from a trip to Whole Foods.  I served M her sandwich and sat with her with my freshly made California in front of me.  {I think you know where this story’s going.}

She wanted nothing to do with her peanut butter & jelly, and everything to do with my California roll.  Not knowing what she’d do with it, I gave her a piece.

Going in for the bite…

Pardon the avocado teeth 🙂

Needless to say she enjoyed it.  I knew Mr. Weekly Bite wouldn’t believe me when I told him, so I took pictures for proof.

So… on Saturday (while I was planted on my bed) Mr. Weekly Bite took M to the grocery store, served her lunch, and took pics to show me what he did.

Sushi-Take II

This is Mr. Weekly Bite, showing off, trying to outdo me….

He gave her chopsticks…

She ate every last bite.

Never in a million years could I imagine my 20 month old not only eating, but enjoying sushi!

So that my friends, is the Great Sushi Experiment.

I’ll be back tomorrow with regularly scheduled programming 🙂

My son’s favorite food is sushi and he was probably only a couple of months older than that when he first ate it and I can tell you we have spent a lot of hours in sushi restaurants with him over the years 🙂
One of his favorite snacks now is the roasted seaweed he takes a pack to school most days.
His second fav food is veggie baked beans – from one extreme to the next!
    Love hubby trying outdo you!

That is too sweet! I wish my parents had fed me sushi growing up – I never tried it until I was 23 years old & I feel cheated!!! : )

Too cute! Your daughter is adorable and 20 months and she ate sushi. Impressed! I would love it if my 3 year old twins would try sushi. They look, they smell, and then hand it back to me. Ha! I guess I can keep trying right?
    Great post!
